Woodlands videos

See videos, and listen to a podcast, about Andrew and Linda’s experiences of building and living in a passive house

The house and the local area

Woodland B&B, on part of a former fruit farm, is in the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. See some of the amazing local area, with views of the Malvern and the Suckley hills and Halesend Wood SSSI

House build videos: raising the oak frame

This video shows parts of the oak frame being craned in and fixed; the whole frame was up in just eight working days!

Wildlife at Woodlands 1: deer

Roe and muntjac deer often visit Woodlands from the nearby woods. They usually visit late in the evening, at night, or early in the morning. If you are lucky, you might see one - or more! - in the day

House building videos: installing a girding rail

You can see girding rails in our B&B guest bedrooms, and elsewhere. This video shows how they are fixed in place. (These guys are also good with flat-pack furniture!)

Wildlife at Woodlands 2: some birds and mammals

Here are some of the several visitors to Woodlands, including foxes, badgers, squirrels, collard doves, and - our favourite - pheasants.

House building videos: the topping out ceremony

A traditional topping out ceremony celebrates the completion of a building’s frame. See the youngest team member fix an oak branch to the highest part of the frame as part of this ceremony at Woodlands - attended by the construction team and neighbours - with beer and cake to follow
